My name is Gary Marsden and I live in the county of Lancashire in the UK. My interest in pigeons first came about at the age of 9 when I was given a pair of blue racing pigeons. At the age of eleven I was fascinated when I spotted a very round, bronze and white pied marked pigeon roosting up high on a ledge at Preston Town Hall. At dusk I later returned to climb the side of the building and scoop her from the nest she was sitting on. I mated her to a mealy racing pigeon as I was unable to locate any bird of similar shape or markings. From this first mating I produced silver mealy cocks which I mated back to her to achieve a similar typed pigeon but I was never able to produce the gazzi markings. Several years later I discovered the bird I had acquired was a bronze-tri gazzi Modena.

Many years later while visiting a local farmer to acquire a pet rabbit for my daughter I was surprised to see an aviary containing two black gazzi Modenas. I was hooked again. We came home with a rabbit and the Modenas. The farmer advised me that locally there were a couple of top Modena breeders called Bob and David Iddon. After a phone call, very interesting conversation and a visit to Bob Iddon I joined the Modena Club of Great Britain.

Currently I am a serving member of the Modena Club Committee and since 1995 I have been a Modena Club appointed judge. In 2009 I was honored to be asked along with five other Modena Club judges to judge at the Danish Modena Club Show.
